Platform Telemetry
Grafana Mimir
A highly available, multi-tenant memory bank designed for extensive historical telemetry and capacity planning.
Grafana Mimir provides infinitely scalable, long-term metrics storage for the entire STD.DEV infrastructure. By receiving remote writes from the central Prometheus scraper, Mimir ensures that historical hardware, container, and business telemetry data is securely preserved for long-term trend analysis and capacity planning.
High-Availability Time-Series Storage
As the containerized STD.DEV architecture continuously emits millions of metrics per day, retaining that data within a standard Prometheus instance quickly becomes unsustainable. Grafana Mimir seamlessly resolves this by acting as the infinitely scalable memory bank within the broader observability stack. Underpinning this storage is a strict 3-2-2-1-0 backup strategy, which acts as a prerequisite to guarantee that all historical metrics are fully redundant and recoverable. While Prometheus aggressively scrapes real-time metrics from node exporters, cAdvisor, and Blackbox probes, its local storage is intentionally short-lived. Mimir bridges this gap by securely ingesting and archiving the entire cluster's high-availability telemetry stream. By seamlessly integrating with Grafana, Mimir allows the STD.DEV engineering team to effortlessly transition from investigating real-time anomalies to conducting extensive historical capacity planning across years of retained data.
