Font Geometry
High-performance spatial typography utilizing Python FontTools, ear-clipping triangulation, and GPU data textures.
STD.DEV has crafted an advanced pipeline for font geometry that prioritizes raw geometric precision. Utilizing custom Python FontTools exports, Daniel Kuhnlein parses glyph path data and triangulates it. By packing all vertex coordinates, glyph metrics, and kerning values into a single RGBA32F data texture, STD.DEV allows the GPU to consume raw typographical data directly, enabling unparalleled high-performance text rendering and complex mesh manipulations at massive scale.
Spatial Typography & Geometric Meshes
In modern spatial environments, text is no longer static. Because each glyph exists as independent geometric data in the GPU pipeline, every single character can be scaled, tilted, rotated, masked, and textured in real-time. Deeply integrated into the SCORE XR architecture, these typographic meshes physically react to real-world interactions. Using hardware inputs like device gyroscopes or hand-tracking coordinates, users can physically shatter, warp, or disperse floating text structures, transforming reading into a highly tactile spatial experience.
High-Resolution WebXR UI Layers
Beyond floating 3D meshes, STD.DEV implements a custom Typesetter engine dedicated to rendering crisp, highly legible 2D text across complex WebXR UI panels. Capable of word-wrapping text within responsive, dynamic bounds, the Typesetter writes high-resolution, anti-aliased text to any texture size on the fly. By writing to a 4x oversampled texture and supplying font-size, line-height, and letter-spacing parameters, the engine produces results that perfectly match native CSS typography without sacrificing real-time performance.
