Mass Spring Damper Cloth Simulation
Sophisticated mathematical framework calculating the structural integrity and physical behavior of flexible materials.
Simulating the weight and structural movement of textiles in real time defines the physical depth of SCORE XR. By representing surfaces as networks of point masses linked by virtual springs and dampers, Daniel Kuhnlein calculates realistic stretching, bending, and folding behaviors. Running these solvers on the GPU allows flexible geometry to react instantly to gravity, user-driven contact, and wind fields.

Spring Solver Matrices
Evaluates structural, shear, and bending springs simultaneously to control fabric stretch, diagonal shear stability, and fold resistance during high-tension states.
GPU Constraint Iteration
Runs 16 constraint-relaxation iterations per frame in GPU vertex passes, ensuring simulation stability and preventing mesh tearing on high-stress folds.
Dynamic Selection & Interaction Pinning
Supports anchor mapping directly inside texture coordinates. Through our unified selection pipeline, users can grab, drag, and pin vertices in real-time. Up to 1024 unique pointer, touch, or VR controller ray coordinates are written to a GPU data texture. Shaders resolve these coordinates instantly to pin select vertices, allowing the cloth mesh to react and drape around the interactive inputs naturally.
From waving flags to soft reactive drapes, mass-spring-damper solvers add realistic weight and motion. STD.DEV optimizes these cloth meshes to ensure tactile interactions directly inside browser-based environments.
